Affinity Training MD, Rob Cousins zooms toward the end of his Charity Challenges in aid of the Care Professionals Benevolent Fund

Date of article: 18 September 2013

After a year of challenges, including a triathlon, Pier to Pier swim, and 10K River Dart swim Rob Cousins of Affinity Training is nearing the finish line, as he zooms off on his motorbike to complete his final challenge in India.

On 11th October Rob will begin a 1,300Km motorcycle challenge through North East India, testing his skills and ability on the turns and twists through one of the world’s largest mountain ranges, the breath-taking Himalaya, to add to the intensity Rob will be riding on a 1940’s Royal Enfield Bullet left!

Despite Rob completing his River Dart swim in 2 hours 25 minutes and finishing in the top third of competitors, Rob has cranked up the pressure even further to face a tough, hot and painful motorcycle ride! Rob said:

“I am doing this challenge for The Care Professionals Benevolent Fund, who provide emergency and crisis grants to those in the care sector facing difficult financial circumstances. Working in the Care Sector has always been a challenge involving a lot of hard work and compassion; in recent years these challenges have increased and occasionally staff encounter issues at home which they need support dealing with. Every charity is worthwhile but I believe this is the only one for the Care Sector and one which actively supports the very people who will look after us in our dotage!”

Andrea Astle of The Care Professionals Benevolent Fund said:

“We are extremely grateful to Rob for taking on both the Motorcycle challenge and 10K swim in the River Dart, the challenges are really something to be proud of and having already raised a significant amount of money for the work of the fund, all his hard work and determination is certainly paying off. There’s still time to support Rob too! Visit: http://www.justgiving.com/Rob-Cousins1.”
